Privacy Policy

Zuri Technologies ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Zuri mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address - For account creation and authentication
  • Password - Encrypted and stored securely
  • OAuth information - If you sign in with Google or Apple: your email address and the sign-in provider's account identifier

1.2 Photos

When you use our AI hairstyle recommendation feature:

  • Uploaded photos - Stored temporarily (24 hours) to generate hairstyle recommendations
  • Generated images - AI-generated hairstyle images are stored until you delete them or they expire (24 hours for unsaved images)
  • Saved favorites - Images you save to favorites are stored permanently until you delete them

When you use our AI hairstyle feature, your photo is sent to third-party AI providers (Google, Anthropic, and xAI) that analyze general facial attributes (such as face shape) solely to produce suitable hairstyle images. We do not perform facial recognition, identification, or biometric processing, and these providers do not use your photo to train their models.

1.3 Usage Data

  • Device information - Device type, operating system version, app version
  • Crash reports - When an error occurs, we use Sentry to diagnose it. We may collect technical details of the error, your device and app information, your account email and user ID, a screenshot of the app screen at that time (which may include your photo or a generated hairstyle), and diagnostic information about the app. This is used only to fix technical problems.
  • Service usage - The number of hairstyle generations associated with your account, used to enforce your usage allowance

1.4 Face / Facial Data

Zuri does not collect or store biometric identifiers or faceprints and performs no facial recognition or identity verification. When generating hairstyles, our third-party AI providers transiently analyze general facial attributes (e.g., face shape) from your uploaded photo solely to recommend and render hairstyles. Any attribute analysis derived for this purpose is stored with the corresponding generation and is automatically deleted after 24 hours — or, if you save the result to Favorites, retained until you delete that favorite. This data is never used for identification, advertising, or profiling.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information for:

  • Service provision - To generate AI hairstyle recommendations
  • Account management - To create and manage your account
  • Communication - To send you service-related notifications
  • App improvement - To improve app features, reliability, and performance. We do not use your photos or any facial analysis to train AI models.
  • Support - To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
  • Security - To protect against fraud and abuse

3. Data Retention

  • Uploaded photos - Deleted after 24 hours unless saved to favorites
  • Generated images - Deleted after 24 hours unless saved to favorites
  • Facial-attribute analysis - Stored with the corresponding generation; deleted after 24 hours unless the result is saved to Favorites, in which case retained until you delete it.
  • Saved favorites - Stored until you delete them
  • Account data - Stored until you delete your account. On deletion your account is deactivated immediately and scheduled for permanent deletion; you can restore it by signing back in within 30 days, after which it is permanently removed.
  • Crash reports - Retained for 90 days for debugging purposes

4. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Service providers - Cloud hosting (AWS), crash reporting (Sentry)
  • AI providers - To generate hairstyle images, your uploaded photo is sent to Google (Gemini), Anthropic (Claude), and xAI (Grok). They process it under data-processing agreements and do not use it to train their models.
  • Legal compliance - If required by law or to protect our rights
  • Business transfers - In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice)

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access - Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction - Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion - Delete your account and data yourself, in the app (Settings → Delete Account) or on our website — no request needed. Your account is deactivated immediately and permanently removed after a 30-day recovery window.
  • Portability - Request export of your data in a portable format
  • Objection - Object to processing of your data
  • Withdraw consent - Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Encryption at rest (database encryption)
  • Secure password hashing (bcrypt)
  • Regular security audits
  • Access controls and authentication

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@zuristylez.com and we will delete it.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws different from your country. By using our App, you consent to such transfers.

Our App integrates with third-party services:

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights:

  • Right to know what personal information is collected
  • Right to know if personal information is sold or disclosed (we do not sell)
  • Right to delete personal information
  • Right to opt-out of sale (not applicable - we don't sell)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights

11. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under GDPR including:

  • Right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection
  • Right to withdraw consent
  • Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

Our lawful basis for processing: Consent (account creation), Contract (service provision), Legitimate interests (improvement, security)

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Posting the new policy in the App
  • Updating the "Effective Date" at the top
  • Sending an email notification (for significant changes)

Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
